在新加坡的教育体系中，有一种特殊的精英教育的选拔，就是小学三年级的高才班选拔（Gifted Education Programme，简称GEP），也有人称为天才班。高才班每年录取大概500名学生，录取率只有1％左右。选出的学生可以在新加坡最好的9间小学中选择一间就读，而在4-6年级的教育中所学习的教材和教育方法会和其他学生有很多的不同。类似的教育制度在西方的一些国家也有，比如如美国、加拿大等。

Q、GEP的考试程序及内容？
A、考试分为两轮，第一轮Screening Exercise，可以理解为全面撒网，考试科目为英文和数学，范围是小学一至三年级教学大纲所列内容，总人数的10%入选。第二轮Selection Exercise，可以理解为重点捕捞，考试科目为英文、数学、能力测试（拼智商），分为两天进行，第一天是英文+能力测试；第二天是数学+能力测试，，但是真信了你就输了，这范围基本是没谱的。最终1%的学生入选，在小学四年级开学时，进入GEP班学习。
